Bilgisayar oyunlarına kabin yapması ile başlayan süreç onu 1995 yılında Escort Bilgisayar'ı kurmaya kadar götürmüş. Türkiye'de bir çok insanı bilgisayarla tanıştıran Özer, 2012 yılından sonra ise teknoloji girişimlerine yatırım yapmaya başlıyor. Alesta Teknoloji ve Escort Teknoloji ile 50'den fazla teknoloji girişimine yatırım yapan Özer, Türkiye'nin bu alanda ilerlemesinde büyük rol oynuyor. Teknolojinin yanında son yıllarda restorasyon işine de giren Özer'in Galata'da Barnathan Ailesi'nin fertlerinin hisselerini toplayıp yeniden ekonomiye kazandırdığı Barnathan Apartmanı son dönemde turistlerin de gözdesi haline geldi.
