Storybox’ın bu haftaki konuğu uluslararası alüminyum piyasasında söz sahibi olan Alcas Metal AŞ. CEO’su Mehmet Yılmaz… İlkokul çağlarında babasının kuruyemiş dükkanında ticarete başlayan Yılmaz, 4 yıl yurtta kaldı. Babası okumasını hatta İngilizce öğrenmesini istiyordu ancak o ticarete daha yatkındı. Yılmaz’ın hayatı, ortaokul 3’üncü sınıfta babasından yediği tokatla değişti. Pılını pırtını toplayıp ertesi gün İstanbul’a göç etti. Oysa ki, İstanbul hayallerindeki gibi değildi. Temizlik görevlisi olarak da çalıştı, pazarda işportacılık da yaptı… Tek bir amacı vardı karnını doyurabilmek. Askerdeyken abisi Abdullah Yılmaz’ın “Alüminyum işine giriyoruz” cümlesi hayatının kırılma anı oldu. O tarihten sonra sırt sırta veren iki kardeş neredeyse imkansızı başardı. Dönemin parasıyla 20 bin 500 markla alüminyum sektörüne adım adan Alcas bugün, 42.000 m² arazi üzerine kurulu, 36.000 m² kapalı alanı, yıllık üretim kapasitesi 34 bin ton, ürünlerinin yüzde 85’ini, başta Amerika ve Avrupa ülkeleri olmak üzere, 34 ülkeye ihraç eden uluslararası dev bir şirket haline geldi.
